Hanging at Leiper's Fork!

I accompanied my mother to the Harding Art Show in Nashville, Tennessee this past weekend and had a fabulous time! We took a side trip to the historic village of Leiper's Fork just south of Nashville. What a unique place.  It has strict building codes so it feels as though time has stood still for the past 50 years. Pucket's Grocery is the place to eat, listen to up and coming musicians, and hang out with the many bikers and cyclists traveling through. Add several bed and breakfast establishments and great art galleries to the mix and you have a wonderful experience! More info at www.visitleipersfork.com.

Nationally known Nashville artist David Arms has recently opened his gallery in Leiper's Fork. As we approached "the barn" (that is what he calls it) we were welcomed by a burning fire pit surrounded with seating.  Softly playing fiddle music filled the air.  Our eyes were drawn to the field beyond to a breathtaking view of freshly cut hay bales. Several artists were set up in the field painting plien air. Wish I could have joined them! We finally made our way into the gallery and were happily surprised to find the artist himself. He told us that he is there 2 days a week and paints in his studio the other 5 days. His wife runs the show otherwise. I encourage you to view his website at www.davidarms.com. Take the time to read about the symbolism in his art. I hope to get back to Leiper's Fork soon and hopefully you will too!

David Arms symbolism - Hummingbirds - "The hummingbird goes a step beyond - they are perpetual motion.  I remember when I first saw a hummingbird still. It was startling. As it can be for us - it can be startling for us to be still.  Yet we must."
